One of my favorite pistols after my dedicated race guns is my Ruger Single Six .22 caliber single action revolver. It's well made, well proportioned, feels right in your hand, and is very accurate. It's also a lot of fun to shoot. The one down-side, of sorts, was the six shot limitation before you had to reload, and with single action revolvers, reloading is kinda slow. Now, Ruger has come out with a ten shot version of the Single Six, called the single 10.

In addition to increasing the capacity, they also put on adjustable sights, and made a number of other small changes. Thanks to the generosity of the great folks at Ruger, and special thanks to Lori Petoske of Ruger, someone at this year's Gun Blogger Rendezvous will become the proud owner of a brand new Ruger Single 10.

You gotta be there to win it though, and it's not too late to register, so

See You In Reno!

Leupold Optics at GBR-VII

Thanks again to Allen Forkner of Swanson Russel for arranging for some really nice optics from Leupold to be in the fund raising raffle this year at the Gun Blogger Rendezvous. This year Leupold is sending a pair of optics for the GBR.

The first is their new VX-2 (not to be confused with the older VX-II). This will be a 3x9x40mm.

VX-2 3-9x40mm

Trusted by hunters and shooters worldwide. The VX®-2 delivers the performance and features that serious hunters demand. We thought of everything…tactile power indictors; finger-adjustable click windage and elevation dials; the brightness, clarity, and contrast needed to hunt even in low-light conditions. Of course, the ruggedness, absolute waterproof integrity, and famous Leupold® Full Lifetime Guarantee only add to the VX-2’s popularity.

They are also sending a Mark AR 1.25-4x20mm scope. This is a great choice for those MSRs or 3-Gun rigs.

Mark AR 1.5-4x20mm

The wide field-of-view at 1.5x combined with the intermediate range precision of 4x make the Leupold® Mark AR™ 1.5-4x20mm a perfect selection for close and mid-range shooting with an AR15/M-16 style rifle. From heavy brush to rolling hills, the Mark AR 1.5-4x20mm has it covered.

You are going to kick yourself for not coming to this year's Gun Blogger Rendezvous, you can be sure! There is still time to go, so get on it!!

Win a SIG SAUER ACP AT The Rendezvous

Thanks to Allen Forkner from Swanson-Russell, we are going to have some amazingly cool items in the Soldier's Angels/Project Valour-IT fund raising raffle this year at the Gun Blogger Rendezvous. Unfortunately Allen won't be able to be there due to other work related commitments, but we hope he's back for next year.

Below is a picture of the  SI -SAUER Adaptive Carbine Platform. It is available with or without the stock, and the one without the stock is what has generously been donated to our fund raising raffle. The version without the stock does not require any special permits, according to Allen. The version with the stock, however, without the right permits, can get you in a lot of trouble!!

Here's a little more info on the SIG SAUER ACP:
The  SIG SAUER® Adaptive Carbine Platform (ACP) allows any handgun with an
accessory rail to be quickly modified into  a personal defense weapon or carbine style firearm. Regardless of the brand, most pistols equipped with an accessory rail can be mounted to the ACP without the need for modification to the base gun.
Fabricated from solid aircraft-grade aluminum, the ACP sports M1913 rails at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions with a full-length top rail at the 12 o’clock position. Compatible accessories such as lights, red dot sights and lasers can be mounted for additional functionality.

The ACP brings Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) features to almost any handgun.

The ACP offers law enforcement and executive protection agencies the ability to deploy a carbine or SMG, but wth the controllability of a handgun. An integral hand stop permits the user to get a forward grip without the danger of covering the muzzle. The integral quick-detachable sling mounts allow an ACP-equipped pistol to be carried on a sling for fast access.

The new SIG SAUER ACP allows the shooter access to the pistol’s frame mounted controls, providing an easy training transition and familiar manual of arms. The ACP is also compatible with most sound suppressors.

Updates

The Gun Blogger Rendezvous is less than a month away, and this year's event is shaping up nicely. We've gained  some new sponsors, and the raffles and door prizes are looking great too. GunBroker.com will be a new sponsor, and will be providing a meal for us. It's not yet determined if it will be a breakfast or a dinner, but they are going to make sure none of the attendees go hungry, at least on one day of the Rendezvous!

Due to the efforts of our friend Allen Forkner of Swanson-Russell, both Leupold and SIG-SAUER will be major sponsors again this year.  Unfortunately Allen won't be able to attend this year as work requires him to be elsewhere for that weekend, but you know he'd be there if he could! I've got a bunch of pictures and info on the really cool stuff from SIG and Leupold, but that will be in another post. You WILL want what SIG is donating, though, I guarantee it!!

I talked to Randi Rogers, and she's no longer with Glock. She's now working for, and shooting for Comp-Tac. She's been winning some really big matches, too!  Go Get 'em Randi!!

Anyhow, it looks like Glock will no longer be a sponsor as they haven't even responded to multiple attempts to get them back again this year. We appreciate their sponsorship in the past, and we hate to lose them this year, but we apparently don't fit whatever their requirements might be. The good news, though, is that Comp-Tac will be sending along some goodies for us. Thanks, Randi!

In other GBR News, the Smokin' Gecko Restaurant and pizza place has changed in to a Mexican restaurant. Our Friday dinner will now be Mexican, instead of ribs. I enjoyed their BBQ Ribs, but Mex is fine too! The pizza for our Saturday Night NSSF Pizza Feed will be coming from another source this year, and I am still looking into that.
